Starting on Thursday July 23rd, Nanaimo will be filled with entertainment, music, family fun in Maffeo Sutton Park and the streets of downtown. Don’t miss the Bathtub Parade, Pancake Breakfast, Bathtub Days Street Fair and Beer Garden. Who has the best Nanaimo Bar in town? Come down to Diana Krall Plaza on Saturday and taste some of the variations and vote for your favourite. This jam packed Saturday will end with the Festival of Lights Fireworks display at 10:00pm right down at the waterfront. Then on Sunday the races start. Cheer on these brave boaters as they race in their bathtubs in the harbour, and foor the first time the races will finish in Maffeo Sutton Park. Wednesday July 22nd
Concert in the Park (Joan Wallace & the Martys) – Nanaimo features numerous free concerts in beautiful Bowen Park in the heart of Nanaimo. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic and enjoy some free, outstanding entertainment for the whole family, starting at 6:00 pm.
Gabriola Island ~ Learn how to make Brie/Neufchatel Cheese- Interested in the traditional art of cheese making? Join Paula in her Brie Cheese Workshop, taste some of her freshly made cheeses and learn how you can make them at home.
Wine Wednesday at ACME Food Co – Come spend a mid-week evening relaxing with friends over your favorite house wine at 50% off while listening to the various piano stylings of Marty Steele in the background.
Bowen Road Farmers Market – This weekly farmers market features local farmers, and food vendors selling fresh and local produce and food items. Join them in celebrating local farmers from 4-6:30pm.
Jensen Sister & Friends (Live Jazz Concert) – Top Canadian JUNO jazz sensations saxophonist/composer Christine Jensen and trumpet player Ingrid Jensen will be joined by multi JUNO award winning Qualicum, BC bassist Ken Lister, top Montreal saxophonist Joel Miller and gifted New York City drummer Jon Wikan in a special Nanaimo Conservatory of Music performance.
Thursday July 23rd
Nanaimo Family Bastion Tours – This 20min tour starts immediately after the noon canon firing. Learn more about Nanaimo’s oldest building from a local expert. By donation.
Summertime Music Series: Lois Lane Lunch Break – Come downtown to Lois Lane, bring on your lunch and listen to some great live music on Thursday from noon to 2pm
Maffeo Sutton Park Market – every Thursday from 4:00 p.m.to 9:00 p.m. Come see a variety of vendor goods, food trucks, and buskers.
Nanaimo Harbour Bird Nerd Tour – There are close to 300 species of birds in the Nanaimo region. Kevin Storey will help you spot some of your favourite avian species and find your latest lifer.
Friday July 24th
Nanaimo Bastion Waterfront Farmers Market- Stroll over the market and stock up on produce or enjoy some uniquely handcrafted arts and crafts. You can enjoy this vibrant market with live music Fridays from 2-6pm.
Bathtub Weekend Launch Party – Don’t miss this one-day concert featuring headliners Platinum Blonde and Bif Naked! Concert takes place at Diana Krall Plaza starting at 5pm. Get your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
Saturday July 25th

Morning Star Bison Ranch Tours – Join Buffalo Bob as the conductor and narrator on a “locomotive” driven train tour where you will ride into the fields and see 2000lb buffalo bulls walking majestically up close and personal!
